Alsi Seed / Linseed / Flaxseed
Alsi seed or linseed, also flaxseed comes from the flax plant. It is one of
the oldest plants known to man. The flax plant is traced back to the ancient
Egyptians and the Bible era. This plant was an important source of seeds and
clothing in the early human history.
The presence of unsaturated fats and mucilage in the plant makes it a
valuable remedy and may help intestinal conditions. When boiled, the seeds are
turned into jelly. On consumption, the seeds creates a soothing action along
the digestive tract. The seeds are better when taken whole rather than jelly
form or infusion. Whole seeds also may draw out toxins from the body. It also
acts as a laxative to easy constipation. When taken with water, the seeds
swell in the bowel and have a bullking laxative effect on the body. It is
imperative to drink a lot of water when taken with seeds to avoid dehydration.
The crushed seeds or linseed flour can also relieve external and painful
boiles on the body.
